Turning Titan (Fall Orientation)

A four-day event at the beginning of fall semester where IWU students begin building their community on campus, become acquainted with university resources and services, meet with their first-year advisors, and engage with Titan Orientation Leaders.

No registration required. Turning Titan is a mandatory program for all first-year students.

Turning Titan is optional for transfer students. However, if you want to learn more about and/or attend the program, please contact Orientation Services at orientation@iwu.edu

Meet your TOLs on the Quad by searching for your group number. You will eat together for your first dinner on campus!

New Student Convocation (Westbrook Auditorium)
Welcome to our academic community! This is the first of several Convocation ceremonies that take place throughout the academic year and the first event that new students will participate in together.

Orientation Group Meeting with TOLs (Various Locations)
Titan Orientation Leaders (TOLs) are current IWU students volunteering for the week to serve as your guides throughout orientation. Join your TOLs and orientation group members as you navigate these first days on campus together.

Hall Floor Meetings (Various Locations)
Welcome to your first floor meeting! This time allows you to meet your floor-mates through discussions and icebreakers. Become acquainted with your First-Year Resident Advisor (FYRA) as you discuss community expectations and roommate contracts. Time is provided for you to familiarize yourself with residence hall and University policies.

Commuter Meetings (Henning Room)
This is an opportunity to meet other Traveling Titans! You will be joined by some TOLs to discuss how you might navigate your time as a commuter student at IWU!
9.30 pm - 11.30 pm
Campus Activities Board: Grocery Bingo
This is a campus tradition like no other! Groups 1-13 will be located in the Young Main Lounge, while Groups 14-27 will be in the Hansen Student Center! You will play different types of bingo to win some necessary college items and big prizes!

This educational session uses humor, interactive talk, and exercises to create an impactful and meaningful learning environment for all participants. Say What?! utilizes research from psychology and adult learning theory mixed with real world discussion and examples of cultural differences happening around us. Check with TOLs for room location.

Chris Carter, Mentalist
Chris Carter is an IWU alum who is recognized as one of the world’s greatest mind readers. However, he is the first to admit that he is not psychic, rather a skilled observer of human behavior and a life-long interest in non-verbal communication and people reading. A psychology and theatre major while at IWU, Chris will surely wow you with a great evening of entertainment and insight into the depths of your mind.
